Tom „Double Tough“ in America
(Regards to Hergé)

Being in California for a month on a business trip I got the chance for some days off.
Having only 16 days, no proper outdoor equipment and a really ugly, rental car I haven´t expected a lot, just some sightseeing and some days at the beach.

At the end it turned out to become one of the most exhausting, exciting and fascinating trips I ever did.

Almost 4000 miles, starting in San Franciso, heading south on “Highway One” going to Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur, Santa Barbara, LA, Disneyland, San Diego, Mount Palomar, Julian, Jacumba, El Centro, Palm Springs, Joshua Tree National Park, Laughlin, Grand Canyon, Hoover Damm, Las Vegas, Death Valley, Sequoia National Park, Kings Canyon and Yosemite National Park.

Temperatures up to 48C, hiking a lot and meeting plenty of wonderful people as well as seeing most astonishing landscapes, animals and plants made it to become a very special event.

Problems to mention :

1. Drinking beer in public
(what an offense)
2. Loitering in a public park
(ooopps, never happened to me before)
3. Flying a kite in a military restricted air strip
(I swear it looked like a public beach,
right in front of Del Coronado Hotel)
